Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne for Bennete John Richard, Sr., 68, who passed away on Friday, September, 27, 2013, at his residence in Rayne.

Deacon Dan Besse conducted the funeral service.

Interment was in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shirline Duhon Richard; one daughter, Loretta Lynn Richard Cormier and husband, Joseph, of Broussard; two sons, Bennett John Richard, Jr. and his fiancé, Lena Jeffers, of Rayne, and Jacob Joseph Richard of Rayne; two brothers, Watson Richard and wife, Dorothy, of Rayne and Ricky Richard and wife, Charmine, of Rayne; five sisters, Ruby Melancon and fiancé, Andrew Habetz, of Rayne, Laura Melancon, and husband, E.J., of Mire, Earline Menard of Rayne, Barbara Guidry of Rayne, and Judy Trahan and husband, John, of Lafayette; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennett Joseph Richard and Emma Stutes Richard; and two brothers, David and Bradley Richard.

The family requested visiting hours be observed at Duhon Funeral Home in Rayne on Monday, September 30, 2013, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.  A rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Monday evening. Visitation continued on Tuesday at 8 a.m. until the time of services.

Pallbearers were Bennett John Richard Jr., Jacob Joseph Richard, Joseph Lewis Cormier, Logan Cormier, Bennett John Richard III and Gerard Melancon.
