Betty Cormier Menard

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Betty Cormier Menard, 81, who died Dec. 1, 2014, at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley.

Fr. Matthew Higginbotham, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Thursday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.

Mrs. Menard and her husband spent most of their time growing, cutting and cooking okra for this community. She enjoyed crocheting, visiting with her family and friends and accompanying her husband, who played French music at various venues. 

She is survived by her husband, Nathan Menard; one daughter, Debra Guidry Williams; three stepdaughters, Carolyn Adkins and her husband Tim, Zona Terro and her husband Vicki and Cindy Abshire; three stepsons, Patrick Menard, Bradley Menard and Michael Abshire and his wife Carole; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her dogs, Fi Fi and Maxine.

Mrs. Menard is preceded in death by her father, Elodis Cormier; her mother, Lucille Hanks; one sister, Joyce DeVille; three nephews, Raymond, Donald and Lawrence DeVille; and one stepson, Glenn Menard.
