Funeral services for Betty Jane Henderson Hebert Thevis, 85, will be held on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, Crowley. Interment will follow in Maxie Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 16, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.

 

Mrs. Thevis passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 6:15 A.M. in a Lafayette care facility.

 

A native and lifelong resident of Maxie, Mrs. Thevis was a member of Maxie United Methodist Church. She attended Northwestern State University, and earned her bachelor’s degree from SLI (now UL Lafayette). Mrs. Thevis was a retired school teacher, having taught at Crowley Middle School for twenty-five years.

 

During her later years, Mrs. Thevis was able to travel throughout the United States and Canada in a motor home. She was also able to travel to Germany and to England.

 

Mrs. Thevis will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Egle and husband, John, Sr. of Lafayette; grandchildren, Ashley Knezek and husband, Eric of Lafayette, Christopher Primeaux of Lafayette, Michelle Egle Ward and husband, Andy of Lafayette, Lauren Egle of Lafayette, and John Egle, Jr. of Lafayette; and four great-grandchildren.

 

Preceding Mrs. Thevis in death were her first husband, Melvin Hebert; second husband, Lawrence Vincent Thevis; son, Henry Hebert; and sister, Bernadine “Bunny” Rogers.
