Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 5, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley for Burl C. Fluitt, 80, who died Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at 5 a.m. at Acadia General Hospital.
Rev. Minos Petry Jr. will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Monday from 9:30 a.m. to service time. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Fluitt is survived by one daughter, Sondra F. Abshire of Crowley; one son, Marlin Fluitt and his wife Rocky of Crowley; two sisters, Katy Sue Conrad of Austin, Texas, and Deanna LeMaire of Gueydan; four brothers, Norwood King Jr. of Waxahachie, Texas, David Fluitt Jr. of Indian Bayou, Calvin Fluitt of Kerrville, Texas, and Jerry Fluitt of Gueydan; three grandchildren, Heidi Vincent and her husband Nick, Hobie Fluitt and his wife Jane and Tyler Abshire; and four great-grandchildren, Paige Vincent, Paisley Vincent, Parker Vincent and Luke Fluitt.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Petry Fluitt; his parents, David Fluitt Sr. and Anna Campbell Fluitt; two sisters, Mary Lou Smith and Jo Murff; and two brothers, George Fluitt and Robert Dale Fluitt.
Pallbearers will be Hobie Fluitt, Tyler Abshire, Nick Vincent, Marlin Fluitt, Terry Smith and Billy Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Parker Vincent and Luke Fluitt.
