Consula P. Woods
The family and friends of Consula P. Woods are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on Nov. 21, 2015, at the age of 76.
Consula was born in Mermentau to Guilliam Pousson and Laura Duhon Pousson on Sept. 23, 1939. She was a homemaker who devoted her life to taking care of her family. Consula also loved to collect dolls and coins, as well as doing puzzles. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her and fondly remembered for her giving spirit.
Consula is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, James Joseph Woods of Gueydan; one son, Jimmy Woods (Shelia) of Gueydan; two daughters, Phyllis Clements of Gueydan and Priscilla LeJeune (Clifton “Bubba”) of Lafayette; one sister, Ella Istre of Gueydan; five grandchildren, Shannon Breaux, Marsha Cormier, Aaron Clements, Crystal Potier, Cory Woods; and eight great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Eric, Meredith, Gavin, James, Chaz, Elli and AdaBella.
Consula was preceded in death by her parents, Guilliam and Laura Pousson; one son, Jason Woods; one sister, Shirley Cormier; and one great-grandson, Peyton Clements.
A Mass of Christian burial for Consula P. Woods, 76, will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Gueydan on Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 10 a.m. with Father Corey Campeaux officiating. Burial will follow in the Gueydan Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Gueydan on Monday, Nov. 23, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. by Mrs. Bonnie Sarver. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at 8 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Mass.
Carrying Consula to her final resting place in Gueydan Cemetery will be Aaron Clements, Gavin Breaux, Eric Breaux, Chase Guillotte, Clifton “Bubba” LeJeune, Carlton Cormier, Kenneth Cormier, and Jimmy Woods. Honorary pallbearer will be Patrick Cormier.
