Douglas P. Stutes

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. , Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Douglas P. Stutes, 71, who died at 11:50 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014 in Lafayette, LA.

Fr. Clint Trahan, Pastor of Saint Aloysius Catholic church of Midland, will celebrate the services. The Burial will follow in the Old Crowley Cemetery. Visitation may be observed on Monday, January 27, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until service time The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2014.

Doug was born March 17, 1942 In Crowley, LA to the late Aggie and Rose Fontenot Stutes. He loved spending his time with his family and grandchildren who called him “Sweet Paw-Paw”. He loved cooking and friendly card games. He worked for Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Velma H. Stutes of Midland; one daughter, Patricia S. Quebodeaux and her husband Jimmy of Midland; an adopted daughter, Jodie F. Robbins and her husband Roy of Crowley; two grandsons, Shannon T. Richard and his wife Erica of Midland and Jamie Quebodeaux of Midland; a granddaughter Bridgette Thibodeaux and her husband Blain of Crowley; four great-grandchildren, Shannon Kade Richard, Alexis Richard, Rory Thibodeaux and Kira Thibodeaux.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara Konkle and two brothers, Pete and Robert Stutes.
