Ganuie Sue Weaver Arnold
Sue W. Arnold, 80, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Emeritus Assisted Living Residence in Alexandria. A memorial service will be held at Alexandria First United Methodist Church in Alexandria, on Saturday, May 17, at 2 p.m. The family will receive visitors immediately following the service.
Sue Arnold was born Ganuie Sue Weaver, born Feb. 9, 1934, in Ringgold. As a child she became quite a gifted and skilled pianist and vocalist and upon high school graduation attended Centenary College where she met and married her husband, Tracy Arnold. She supported and worked beside Tracy throughout his 35 years of full-time ministry in the Louisiana United Methodist Church serving from 1953–1988 at both Trinity First United Methodist Church and St. Luke First United Methodist Church in Shreveport and at First United Methodist churches in Abbeville, Crowley, Minden and Alexandria.
Sue also taught piano and voice lessons and participated in community work throughout these years. Teaching voice and piano to countless children and adults, her teaching career spanned more than 50 years. Music was Sue’s witness of the Christian faith. Her career allowed her to share her love and faith in Jesus Christ. She was full of energy and had a smile that not only lit up a room, but made everyone in that room want to draw closer to her.
Sue Arnold is survived by her two children, Mark R. Arnold and wife Debbie of Crowley, and Shelly King and husband Darron of Denham Springs; Nicholas Arnold, Patrick Arnold, Suzanne King Creel, Sharrah King Robertson and Will King; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Sue Arnold was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Tracy R. Arnold; her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ganuie Reginald Weaver; and one grandson, Matthew Raymond Arnold.
