Georgiana Breaux Handy



Georgiana Breaux Handy was born to Clarence Breaux and Rita Stevenson Breaux on February 03, 1927 in Indian Bayou, LA.  She grew up on the outskirts of Jennings where she attended school.  Georgiana accepted Christ at an early age.  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for many years.  On January 28, 1942 she was united in holy matrimony to the late Dewey Handy for 54 years, and to this union a son was born.
     Georgiana was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She was a homemaker for many years and also traveled with her husband on his job during the early years to several states.  For over 40 years she was the first representative in the Welsh area to sell Avon, Stanley and Tupperware.  She enjoyed crabbing, fishing, and her most pleasurable hobby was canning fruits and vegetables.  Before her health failed she spent many years traveling to California and Hawaii with her son and family relaxing on the beach.
    She leaves to cherish her found memories, one son; Philip L. (Annie) Handy Sr. of San Jose, CA. and their two children ; Tarsha Stewart (Dajai, Darrius, Donavon, and Darian Stewart) all of Las Vegas, NV., and Philip L. Handy Jr. (Jasmine and Jocelyn Handy) all of Sacramento, CA.  Special people in her life whom she cherished talked and laughed about with all the time; Russell (Rita) Rossette and their two children (Angelina Julien of Lafayette, LA., Stephanie (Albert) Arceneaux and their three sons (Courtlin Greis, Eric Arceneaux, and Colby Arceneaux) Crystal (Varry) Harmon and their two children (Javondrick and Janiyah Harmon) all of Welsh, LA., Tuana Mitchell of Austin, TX. and her daughter Whitney Paige Mitchell of Shreveport, LA., eight great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her husband Dewey Handy, her parents Clarence and Rita Marie Stevenson Breaux, twin brother George Breaux, and her two sisters Carella Rossette and Marie Audrey Meno.
    Visitation will be held Friday, December 13, 2013 from 9:00am-11:00am at St, Joseph Catholic Church with funeral services following thereafter. Burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Cemetery, under the direction of King’s Funeral Home.
