Glenn Gerard Monte

Rayne—Funeral services for Glenn Gerard Monte, 54, of Kaplan will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, Rayne.  Father Clint Trahan will officiate.  Interment will follow in Abshire Cemetery, near Kaplan.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 26, 2014 beginning at 5:00 P.M., and will continue all night and on Saturday until service time in Duhon Funeral Home, Rayne.  A rosary will be recited Friday at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home.

Glenn passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at 3:45 P.M. in his Kaplan residence.  

A former resident of Rayne, Glenn was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  He carried on the local musical traditions as accordion player with Glenn Monte and Y2Cajun.  Glenn loved playing and listening to Cajun French music, and his legacy will live on through a some he wrote called “Le Vieux Chapeau de Paille” (“The Old Straw Hat”).  

Glenn enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cutting his grass on his John Deere.  His greatest joy in life was being with and caring for his family.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Marie Breaux Monte of Kaplan; daughter, Amanda Kay Monte of Kaplan; son, Lance Joseph Monte of Kaplan; sisters, Peggy Monte of Rayne, and Kathy Cother and husband, Mike of Rayne; uncle, John Villejoin and wife, Sue of Crowley; Godfather, Balou Trahan of Lyons Point; and Godmother, Dixie Fleming of Crowley.  He is also survived by countless friends.

Preceding Glenn in death were his parents, Agustane and Dorothy Villejoin Monte.
