Irene Theresa Sibille Durio

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne, LA for Irene Sibille Durio, 91, who passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014. Interment will be in St. Leo Cemetery, Roberts Cove.
Survivors include her son, Craig A. Durio and his wife, Linda S. Durio, stepson, William H. Durio and daughter-in-law, Rita P. Durio; grandchildren, Brian Durio and fiance, Jade B. Guidry, Matthew H. Durio and wife, Brandy B. Durio, and Caroline D. Kryszewski and husband, Alan Kryszewski; great grandchildren, Sophia and Michael Kryszewski and Mary Frances and Henri Durio; brother, Edward Sibille; sister-in-law, Claire D. Smith, and a host of nieces and nephews who were very near and dear to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lennard E. Durio, parents, Willie and Lilburn (Guilbeaux) Sibille; brothers, Willie Sibille, Jr. and Joseph Sibille; sisters, Vivian S. Glasscock and Elaine S. Dodge.
A native of Sunset, LA, Irene was born on October 11, 1923. She graduated from SLI (University of Louisiana-Lafayette) in 1944 with a bachelor’s degree in the college of agriculture. She touched many lives of students at Iota High School, where she taught Home Economics for most of her 35 year career. Irene enjoyed her retirement, being involved in numerous activities which included sewing for those she loved, traveling, cooking, and playing cards.
Irene was a member of Roberts Cove Ladies Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, and a weekly Roberts Cove Rosary Prayer Group.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 4:00 pm until 8:00pm and on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 8:00 am until time of services.
A rosary will be recited Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 6:00 pm.
The family wishes to extend special heartfelt thanks to the staff at Rayne Guest Home, Dr. Tommy Curtis, and Hospice of Acadiana for the wonderful care provided. Memorial contributions can be made in Irene Durio’s name to Hospice of Acadiana, Inc., 2600 Johnston St., Ste 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
