James Carey “Jimmy” Martien III

James Carey “Jimmy” Martien III, 66, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014, at Louisiana Extended Care Hospital of Lafayette. 

Born April 13, 1948, in Crowley, Jimmy is the son of James “Carey” Martien Jr., and the late Katherine Yvonne Rhodes Martien. A longtime resident of Crowley and later of Lafayette, he also served in the United States Marine Corps. 

He is survived by his father; one daughter, Laura Martien and her daughters, Emily and Isabella of Lafayette; two sons, James Carey Martien IV, his wife Nicole and children, Sage, James, and Noah of Erath, and Seth Martien, his wife Michel and daughters Olivia and Blaik of Broussard; three sisters, Emily Kay Martien Lawrence and husband Robert of Rayne, Elizabeth “Beb” Martien, and Mary Martien, both of Crowley; and one brother, Byron Martien and wife Patricia of Crowley. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service Saturday, May 3, at 11 a.m., at First United Methodist Church of Crowley. A private entombment will take place at a later date.
