Joseph Abshire

 Funeral services will be held for Joseph Abshire, 84, at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 20, at Duhon Funeral Home of Crowley. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. and will continue until just prior to service time on Friday.

Mr. Abshire passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley.

Mr. Abshire is survived by his children, Wanda Theriot and husband Lovonia of New Iberia, Clifton Abshire of Rayne, Mary Ann Bass and husband Dean of Jackson, Mississippi, and Dianna Abshire of Rayne; grandchildren, Bridget Theriot, Monique Landry, Bobby Bass Jr., Chad Bass and Amanda Perero; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elgene Abshire of Lake Charles and Willa Mae Wilder and husband E.C. Wilder Sr., also of Lake Charles; and one brother, David Abshire of Jennings.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Thomas Abshire; parents, Theo and Emma Richard Abshire; son, Michael Abshire; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Clifton Abshire,  Lovonia Theriot, Patrick Landry, Auston Perero, and Justin Bashaw. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Abshire and Joe LeJeune.
