Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 25, at the Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Joseph Hanks, 84, who died at 9:23 p.m., Monday, July 21, 2014, at his residence in Houston, Texas, with his family by his side.
Rev. Chris Campo, pastor of the Parkerson Avenue Baptist Church, will preside over the services and the burial will follow in the North Crowley Hanks Cemetery. Visitation may be observed on Friday from 11 a.m. until service time.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Second Baptist Church, located at 9025 Carlow Lane in La Porte, Texas, (77571), and will be presided over by Pastor Bobby Worsham.
Mr. Joseph Hanks is survived by his wife Julia Land Hanks of Houston, Texas; three daughters, JoAnn Hanks Miller of Crowley, Donna Lynn Cooper of Orange, Texas, and Roni (Tom) Palladino of Omaha, Nebraska; two sons, Doug (Coleen) Hanks of Houston, Texas, and David (Cathy) Hanks of Houston, Texas; three stepchildren, Gregory (Jacque) Sherman of Ramona, California, Jeff (Tammy) Sherman of Mountain View, Arkansas, and Leslie Beth (Jay) Neff of Jasper, Texas; grandchildren, Ricky Benoit, Kurt (Jodie) Benoit, Kenneth Chance, Andrea Palladino, Justin (Erin) Palladino, Carli Palladino, Danielle (David) Goggins, Jeremy Hanks and Paige Meyers; step-grandchildren, Megan, Willa and Grayson Neff, Spencer Sherman, Colton Sherman and Mason Sherman. He also is survived by 13 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Elta Arabie Hanks; five sisters, Mary H. Sonnier, Agnes H. Burson, Ina H. Batchler, Eunice H. Oncale and Mable H. Credeur; two bothers, Jessie Hanks and Jimmy Hanks; daughter, Jackie Lynn Hanks; and granddaughter, Angela B. Credeur.
