Joseph Herville ‘Uncle Joe’ Richard

Crowley—Funeral services for Joseph Herville “Uncle Joe” Richard, 69, of Crowley were held on Monday, December 16, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, Crowley.  Father Clint Trahan officiated.  Interment followed in Woodlawn Cemetery, Crowley.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 15, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m, with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m., in Duhon Funeral Home, Crowley.  Visitation continued on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home.
Mr. Richard went to be with Jesus on Friday, December 13, 2013, at 9:50 a.m. in a Crowley hospital.
A longtime resident of the Crowley area, Mr. Richard was born September 4, 1944. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lyons Point.  Mr. Richard, known as Uncle Joe to all who knew him, was owner and operator of Uncle Joe’s Seafood for many years.  He enjoyed camping, and had a passion for fishing.  Uncle Joe loved to talk, and anyone visiting him could count on a long conversation.
Mr. Richard’s greatest joy in life was caring for and being with his family.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Yolande Seaux Richard of Crowley; children, Susan Richard of Crowley, Vanessa Domingue and husband, Danny, of Kaplan, Christine Uriegas and husband, Max, of Crowley, John A. Richard and wife, Celeste, of Crowley, Wayne A. Richard and wife, Geneva, of Estherwood, and Kassandra Morgan and husband, Thomas, Sr. of Lyons Point; sister, Ruby Leblanc of Lafayette; grandchildren, Daniel Domingue and wife, Christina, of Lake Charles, Nicole Hargrave and husband, Colby, of Kaplan, Ryan Domingue of Kaplan, Ryan Domingue of Kaplan, Cally U. Morgan and husband, Jonathon, of Crowley, Marlene Uriegas of Crowley, Jalyn Richard of Crowley, John P. Richard of Crowley, Jordan Richard of Crowley, Wayne A. “T-Wayne” Richard, II of Estherwood, Wade A. Richard of Estherwood, Thomas J. “T.J.” Morgan, Jr. of Lyons Point, and Emma Rose “Mimi” Morgan of Lyons Point; and great-grandchildren, Eian Dowden of Lake Charles, Nolan Domingue of Lake Charles, Aaron Smith of Kaplan, Kennedi Hargrave of Kaplan, Mason J. Richard of Crowley, and Kathryn Domingue and Evelyn Richard, who are both on the way.  
Preceding Mr. Richard in death were his parents, Louis and Birdie Guidry Richard; brothers, John Sonnier, Paul Sonnier, and A.J. Sonnier; and sister, Olivia Comeaux.
Serving as pallbearers were Wayne Richard, Wayne Richard, II, Daniel Domingue, Ryan Domingue, John P. Richard, Jordan Richard, Thomas Morgan, Sr., and Max Uriegas; named as honorary pallbearers were Jonathon Morgan and John A. Richard.
