Larry Allen Hayes
It’s with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Larry Allen Hayes announces his passing from this life on Friday, April 8, 2016.
Larry was born on Sept. 26, 1942, in Morse to Offord Hayes and Lucette Pommier Hayes. Larry served nine years in the U.S. Army, two tours in Korea and one tour in Vietnam, receiving a Purple Heart. He liked to collect mementos, he also liked flowers, especially orchids. Larry loved spending time with his family, his children and grandchildren, which he loved dearly. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Gaspard Hayes of Gueydan; one son, Jason Larry Hayes (Kathy) of Everett, Washington; two daughters, Cindy Anne Hayes (Ronnie Fruge) of Lafayette and Tiffany Marie Hayes Ayling (Tom) of Stanwood, Washington; five grandchildren, Paige Allison Ayling, Kane Bryant Ayling, Drew Austyn Ayling, Nathan Joseph Hayes and Brady Allen Hayes; one step-grandchild, Kelsye Ann Fruge; and two sisters, Joyce Hayes Epperson of Porter, Texas, and Betty Hayes LaFosse of Morse.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Offord and Lucette Pommier Hayes; one sister, Wanda Hayes Menard; and four brothers, Alfred Hayes Sr., Glenn C. Hayes, Richard W. Hayes and Francis L. Hayes.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Larry Allen Hayes, 73, of Gueydan, will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morse on Wednesday, April 13, at 2 p.m. with Father Clint Trahan officiating. Burial will follow in Istre Cemetery, where he will be honored with Full Military Rites. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Gueydan, on Tuesday, April 12, from 2:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. The family request visitation resume at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, and continue until the time of his Funeral Mass at 2 p.m.
Carrying Larry to his final resting place in Istre Cemetery will be Ronnie Fruge, Tom Ayling, Michael James Hayes, Roger Kim LaFosse, Kenneth Wayne Trahan and Chris Pearson.
