Laura Clement Istre

A Celebration of Life and Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, for Laura Clement Istre, 58, at her family home in Lyons Point. Mrs. Istre passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at her residence.

Laura was raised in Lafayette and moved to Lyons Point in 1978. She graduated from Lafayette High School with the class of 1974 and began a career in veterinary medicine as a vet tech. A very loving, caring and kind person, Laura had a special passion for animals; she and her husband loved their life on the farm. She never met a stranger in life and always offered a helping hand to anyone in need. She was devoted to family and friends and was always the person you could count on. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Blake Istre of Lyons Point; mother, Frances Clement Averett of Crowley; father, John E. Clement Jr. of Rosenberg, Texas; sister, Elizabeth Waters of Clearlake, Texas; brother, Timothy Clement and his wife, Mary of New Iberia; nieces and nephews, Michael Wolfe, Laura Beth Waters, Tyler Clement, Ashley Clement and Jessica Klemann. 

She was preceded in death by her sister, Tammy Clement; brother-in-law, Dennis Waters; and nephew, Christopher Wolfe.
