Lucinda Reed
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, at Jerusalem Baptist Church at 11 a.m. for Lucinda Reed, 92. Pastor Sherard Joseph will officiate the services and Internment will follow in the West Crowley Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:30 a.m. until the time of services.
The loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother passed away peacefully on March 20, 2015, in Crowley. She was born on Sept. 12, 1922, to Mose and Clara Milson. Lucinda (“Cindy”) accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and remained a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She met James Reed Sr. while singing in the church choir as a teenager and they married shortly thereafter.
Cindy was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church and gave generously of her time. She was a loving and caring person who seemed to touch and enrich the lives of everyone she met. She lived a long and fulfilling life, retiring from Nichols Department Store after over 20 years in the retail sector.
She is survived by her siblings, Mose Milson Jr. (Linda) of Rayne and Gloria Clark (Clyde) of Los Angeles; children, James Reed Jr. (Carla), Tedine Mayfield (Isaac) and Gerald Reed Sr. (Dawn); her nine grandchildren, Steven Reed, Ursula Despanie, Brian Reed, LaTanyo Waines, Sonja Reed, Tariq AbdulRasheed, Germaine Johnson, Danielle Reed and Gerald Reed Jr.; 29 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving Cindy are many nieces and nephews.
Cindy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James; her parents, Mose and Clara Milson; her siblings, Warren Milson, Flora Budrant, Helen Mouton, Johnny B. Milson, Frank MIlson Sr. Eva Mae Milson, Mildred Jones and Ethel Lee Perron.
Ford and Joseph Funeral Home of Opelousas has been entrusted with final arrangements.
