Lunia Richard Abshire

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home for Lunia Richard Abshire, 90, who died Tuesday, February 4, 2014, in Crowley.

Fr. Matthew Higginbotham, Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to the time of service. Interment will be in Abshire Cemetery.

Mrs. Abshire is survived by two daughters, Gurline Melancon and her husband Jerry of Crowley, and Ramona Faye Abshire and her fiancé Roy Navarre of Crowley; two sons, Chester Abshire and his fiancé Bernadine Estilette of Crowley, and Lee Abshire and his wife Gail of Crowley; one sister, Euella Cormier; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and seven great great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Abshire; her parents Albert and Edith Broussard Richard; one sister, Lorena Simon; and a granddaughter, Lynn Abshire.
