Marie Ann Marceaux Blanchard
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Midland, for Marie Ann Marceaux Blanchard, 85, who died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at 3:38 p.m. at The Regional Medical Center of Acadiana.
Marie, or “Edna” as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was born in Midland to Columbus Marceaux and Mira Anna Trahan Marceaux on Nov. 29, 1928. She married Alfred “King” Blanchard on April 11, 1947, in Gueydan. She worked as a certified nursing assistant for American Legion Hospital for 24 years and was a parishioner of St. Aloysius.
Fr. Clint Trahan, pastor of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. Burial will be in Estherwood Cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Peggy B. Schexnayder and husband Roger of Midland; one son, Charles Blanchard and wife Shirley of Jacksonville, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Thomas Williams and wife Dawn of Egan, Don Williams of Saline, Millie Williams and life partner Donna Ross of Miami, Fla., Gwen Fontenot of Midland, Blaine Schexnayder and wife Tina of Marysville, Ind., Aaron Schexnayder of Midland and Rose Marie Blanchard of Jacksonville, Ark.; 14 great-grandchildren, Thomas, Samantha, Jenae, Dylan, Kristina, Mitchell, Alyssa, Blake, Jace, Damon, Ethan, Hunter, Leah and Emma; two great great-grandchildren, Ellie and Anna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Blanchard; one daughter, Helen Blanchard Norman; her parents, Columbus and Anna Trahan Marceaux; two sisters, Annie M. Penn and Mary Borel; four brothers, Edward, Tommy, Bobby and Aubrey Marceaux.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Williams, Don Williams, Blaine Schexnayder, Mitchell Orcino, Dylan Istre and Joshua Penn.
Honorary pallbearer will be Blake Schexnayder.
The family of Marie wishes to extend sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana for the love and care they showed her during her final weeks.
