Rayne- A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Marjorie A. Cormier, 78, at 1:00PM on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, LA with Rev. Kevin Bordelon, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, LA as Celebrant. Visitation wias held at Duhon Funeral Home-Rayne Chapel on Monday, October 5, 2015 from 12:00PM until 10:00PM with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00PM and resumed on Tuesday at 8:00AM until just prior to service time. Interment followed the service and was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery # 2. Mrs. Cormier passed away at her residence in Rayne, LA on Saturday, October 3, 2015.
Marjorie was a long time resident of Rayne, LA and was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Foster Parent to many young children in the Rayne area and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Michael Cormier, Sr. and his wife, Stacie of Rayne, LA, Richard Cormier, Sr. and his wife, Aimee of Branch, LA; four grandchildren, Ashley Cormier and Jared Dartez of Moss Bluff, LA, Michael Cormier, Jr. and his wife, DesiRae of Kaplan, LA, Richard Cormier, Jr. of Branch, LA and Ian Cormier also of Branch, LA; two great-grandchildren, MiKaylah Cormier, Michael Cormier, III and DemiRae Cormier who is “on the way”.
Mrs. Cormier was preceded in death by her husband, Earlis Cormier; son, Ricky Cormier; parents, Homer Abshire, Sr. and Regina Gaspard Abshire; four brothers and three sisters.
Pallbearers were Michael Cormier, Jr., Richard Cormier, Jr., Daniel Saltzman, John Eric Clostio, Scotty Quebodeaux and David Abshire, II. Honorary pallbearers were Ian Cormier, Michael Cormier, III and Jared Dartez.
