MILDRED RENA FALCON TURK


 
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church in Duson for Mildred Rena Falcon Turk, 85 , who died on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at her residence in Rayne surrounded by her family.
 
Interment will be in St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Cemetery.
 
Reverend Louis Allen Breaux, Pastor of St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church in Duson, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Anna Arthurs and Kathy Menard. Giftbearers will be Kellie Brewer, Linda Bustamante and Michelle Klinect. Karen Broussard, Organist and soloist, will provide musical selections for the services.
 
She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Jan Turk Bankston and her husband, Brenton;  one granddaughter, Danielle Breaux Atkins and her husband, Anthony; one great granddaughter, Isabelle Atkins; one brother, Carroll Falcon; and her beloved canine companion, "Conway."
 
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph "Joe" Turk; her son, Joseph Frank Turk; two sisters, Eileen Menard and Ethel Breaux; and her parents, Wilfred and Edith Trahan Falcon.
 
Mildred Rena Falcon Turk was born on January 28, 1929 in Rayne, Louisiana and remained a resident of Acadia Parish throughout her life. She was a long-time member of the Lafayette Garden Club, and Past President and founding member of the Mire Branch Water Corporation. Rena, as she was known to her family and friends, was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
 
Pallbearers will be David Falcon, Brenton Bankston, Anthony Atkins, Scott Menard, Nick Klinect and Jerry Scott Menard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Carroll Falcon, Leroy Breaux and Daniel Menard.
 
A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 11:00 AM in St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church Hall in Duson.
 
The family requests that visitation be observed at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church Hall in Duson on Saturday, June 14, 2014 from 9:00 AM until time of services.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Turk's name to Heart of Hospice, 201 W. Vermilion Street, Lafayette, LA. 70501 or the Alzheimer's Association of Louisiana, 3445 N. Causeway, Suite 902 Metairie, LA 70002
 
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of Heart of Hospice and Regional Medical Center of Acadiana, as well as her care givers, Renee Fruge, Jeanne Guidry and Tammy Chaudhry, for their kindness, compassion and gentle care given to Mrs. Turk and her family during their time of need.
