Mildred Romero Forestier

Mire—A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Mildred Romero Forestier, 83, of Rayne will be held on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Mire.  Father Garrett Savoie will serve as celebrant.  Interment will follow in Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Mire.

Visitation will begin on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in Duhon Funeral Home, Rayne, and will continue until Monday at 1:30 P.M.  A rosary will be recited Sunday at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home.

Mrs. Forestier passed away on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 10:25 P.M. in a local care facility.

A native and lifelong resident of Acadia Parish, Mrs. Forestier was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire.  She enjoyed doing crafts, including crocheting and sewing, and she was a wonderful cook.  Her greatest joy in life was caring for her family, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Lou Doucet and husband, Ronald of Rayne; son, Jimmy Forestier and wife, Sable of Church Point; sister, Hazel Leger of Rayne; brother, Emery Romero and wife, Thelma of Scott; grandchildren, Dana Simon and husband, Barry of Mire, Johnny Forestier and wife, Christine of Youngsville, Shane Doucet and wife, Joni of Houston, TX, Brian Forestier of Atlanta, GA, and Denice Doucet of Mire; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Preceding Mrs. Forestier in death were her parents, Eddie and Edese Touchet Romero; husband, Alcide Forestier; son, Johnny Forestier; daughter, Anna Lou Forestier; and brother, Henry Romero.
