Milton Joseph Mire

Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial for Milton Joseph Mire, 80, who died Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at his residence in Rayne.
Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2, Mausoleum in Rayne.
Surviving are one son, Corwin Mire and wife Pebbles of Rayne; one daughter, Katrinka Trahan and husband Kevin of Youngsville; four grandchildren, Arlin Mire, Ariel Mire Broussard, Kirk Trahan and Konner Trahan; sister, Mildred Knapp and husband Bob of Niderland; sister, Evola Silvia of Rayne; and a special friend, Ms. Dolores Thibodeaux.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Ora Mire; father, Clinton Mire; mother, Orphize Robin Mire; and one brother, Gervise Mire.
Mr. Milton was a graduate of Rayne High School in 1953. He held numerous positions within the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He maintained these positions for 35 years from May 1954 through 1989 and 1996. Mr. Milton was a member of the CFMA Chapter, in Lake Charles and Lafayette. He presided as president of the CFMA for the 1997-1998 term as well as administered the Board for the CFMA Museum in Eunice. Mr. Milton held numerous training sessions in the agriculture department for USL and LSU. He was in charge of the Ariel Flight for the state of Louisiana Agriculture Department. Mr. Milton was the 2003 Frog Festival King.
A rosary will be recited Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 6:30 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA.
Friends will be received at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc., Rayne. Tuesday, Dec. 23, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 24, from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
