Mrs. Ira Jane Broussard

Funeral services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Friday, Feb. 14, at 10 a.m., honoring the life of Mrs. Ira Jane Broussard at the beautiful age of 84.

Father Charles McMillin will be officiating her services.

Mrs. Ira Jane passed away on Feb. 10, 2014, while in Camelot Place in Crowley. She will be laid to rest in Hanks Cemetery in Morse under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home 

Mrs. Ira Jane was born in Lyons Point to the late Willis Thibodeaux and the late Mary Alice Monceaux Thibodeaux on Oct. 11, 1929. Mrs. Ira Jane was a retired school secretary. She loved her family and friends dearly. She devoted her life to the care of her husband. She loved to cook and have large family gatherings. She enjoyed making crafts of all sorts.

 Mrs. Ira Jane is survived by her brother, Kenneth Thibodeaux (Bertha) of Lake Arthur; three sisters, Ruthy T. Boudreaux of Crowley, Juanita T. Storey of Tallulah and Cephronia T. Prather of Rayne; one sister-in-law, Shirley A. Thibodeaux of Lake Arthur; and 16 nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Mary Alice Thibodeaux; her husband, Burnice “Black” Broussard; one sister, Emma Thibodeaux Moring; one brother, Willis Thibodeaux Jr.; three brothers-in-law, Roy J. Boudreaux, Jake Storey and John Moring.

The Broussard family requests that visiting hours be observed at Matthews and Son Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday, Feb. 14, at 8 a.m. until the time of her services.

The family of Ira Jane Broussard would like to thank Camelot of Crowley for taking such great care of her and also Heart of Hospice for all their kindness in our time of need.
