Murphy Valair

Funeral services for Murphy “Rev” Valair, 70, will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel, Church Point. Reverend Al Malbrough will officiate. Interment will follow in Body of Christ Cemetery, Branch.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. until service time in Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point.

Mr. Valair passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 4:58 P.M. in an Alexandria hospital.

A native of Acadia Parish, Mr. Valair had lived in Alexandria for many years. He retired from the U.S. Army, and he was a Vietnam War veteran. After retirement from the Army, Mr. Valair worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Survivors include his wife of over 48 years, Hanelore Valair of Alexandria; daughters, Sigrid Valair-Foreman of Tyler, TX, and Jeralyn Antoinette Valair-Riell and husband, Rex of Tucson, AZ; sisters, Mary Guillory and husband, George of Iota, June Marie Valair of Iota, Veronica Bolden of Houston, TX, and Jacqueline Valair of Tucson, AZ; brothers, Tim Martin Valair and wife, Theresa of Church Point, Van V. Valair of Lafayette, and Velton Valair of Iota; grandchildren, Christel Rae Moncrief of Hallsville, TX, and Rebecca Christine Riell of Tucson, AZ; great-grandchildren, BreAnna N.C. Valair-Taylor of Hallsville, TX, and Kyla Christine Valair-Smith of Hallsville, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Preceding Mr. Valair in death were his parents, Thomas and Marie Citizen Valair; sisters, Janell A. Valair and Jerryline Valair; and brothers, Edward Henry Valair and John Hilton Valair.
