Nelson LeJeune
Funeral services for Nelson LeJeune, 95, of Gueydan will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Gueydan on Monday, Nov. 24, at 11 a.m. with Father Clint Trahan officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning on Sunday, Nov. 23, from 2:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. and will resume on Thursday at 8 a.m. until the time of his service. Nelson will be laid to rest in the Hanks Cemetery.
Nelson was born on Oct. 18, 1919, in Gueydan to the late Dalva LeJeune and the late Edna Hebert LeJeune and was called to his heavenly father on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014. Nelson was an avid cattleman and a very faithful man. He loved playing the harmonica and listening to French music. Most of all, Nelson loved spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren. Nelson was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Nelson is survived by two daughters, Rowena LeJeune Hardee (Dwight) of Gueydan and Delia LeJeune Capps (Lane) of Tullos; two brothers, Rodney LeJeune (Earline) of Gueydan and Wilson LeJeune (Willie Mae) of Gueydan; two grandsons, Damian LeJeune and his children, Grace and Emma LeJeune of Gueydan, and Denny Capps (Sierra) and their soon-to-be born son of Denali, Alaska.
Nelson is preceded in death by his parents, Dalva and Edna LeJeune; his beloved wife, Lena Mae LeJeune; and four brothers, Oran, Warren, Roland and Citman LeJeune.
Carrying Nelson to his eternal resting place will be Damian LeJeune, Dwight Hardee, Lane Capps, Kenneth “Gomer” Petry, Lonnie Breaux and James “Pep” Lopez.
