Nicrest Thibodeaux

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Nicrest Thibodeaux, 85, who died at 9:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at the SW Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings.

Fr. Mark Miley, associate pastor of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, will officiate the Mass and the committal services will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family request visitation be observed on Friday, Sept. 5, from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 6, from 8 a.m. until service time. The Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Friday.

Mr. Nicrest was born Sept. 7, 1928, in Crowley to the late Deluce and Elodie Labry Thibodeaux. He was a lifelong member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and was also a member of the Knight’s of Columbus and the Msgr. George Mallow 4th Degree. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his country during World War II. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 15. He worked most of his life as an electrician. He loved spending time with his friends and family and tending to his garden.

He is survived by his three daughters, Bonnie Leeper and husband Mike of Crowley, Bernadette Vincent and husband Tunny of Crowley and Georgette Gaspard and husband Kenneth of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Terry Leeper Jr. (Lauri), Christian Johnson (Michael), Nicholas Vincent (Heidi), Nicole Bourque (Joey), Breanne Vincent, Jenee’ Gibbs (Stephen) and Jocelyn Gaspard; great-grandchildren, Paige, Paisley and Parker Vincent, Madison Michelle Johnson, Mason Michael Johnson, Hayden Johnson and Emma Johnson,  Baylon Bourque, Beckett Bourque, Brenna Gibbs, Evan Gibbs and Eden Elizabeth Leeper.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Guidry Thibodeaux; sisters, Vivian Duhon and his twin, Nedia Louise Myers; and a brother, Ellies Thibodeaux.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Vincent, Joey Bourque, Steven Gibbs, Tunny Vincent, Kenneth Gaspard and Michael Johnson.
