Rev. Willie Alvin Benoit, 79, passed away at Encore Health Care in Crowley Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 23, at 11 a.m. at H. O. P. E. United Pentecostal Church of Evangeline with Pastor Thomas Patterson and the Rev. Scott Benoit officiating.
Burial will follow in Bluff Cemetery of Evangeline under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation is Thursday in the church from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. and continues to Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
He is survived by his son, Ralph Benoit and wife Tracy of Evangeline; brothers, Tommy Benoit and wife Nelarine of Evangeline and C. J. Benoit and wife Sparkle; sister, Betty Simar and husband Royce of Cookeville, Tennessee; and grandchildren, Matthew and Clay Benoit, Tara Leckelt, Westin and Aimee Benoit.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jan Benoit; daughter, Cheryl Benoit; and his parents.
Rev. Benoit was born on Oct. 1, 1935 to the late Norbert and Grace Hanks Benoit. He was a graduate of the Pentecostal Bible Institute in Tupelo, Mississippi, and pastored churches in Nederland, Texas, and Jennings. He also worked as a printer for over 30 years for different companies. He loved ministering to families and took care of his late wife for 10 years.
