Rodney J. Fontenot

                 
Church Point –– Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Rodney J. Fontenot, 92.
Mr. Fontenot, a native of Church Point and long-time resident of Branch, La., died at 5:55 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2013 ,at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point.
Father Stephen Ugwu conducted the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum adjacent to the church.
 Survivors include a son, Greg Fontenot and wife, Susan Castille Fontenot, of Branch; three grandchildren, Jeff Fontenot and wife, Amanda, of Broussard, La., Heather Fontenot Babineaux and husband, Leighton, of Branch and Emily Fontenot and fiancé, Nick Dilly, of Lafayette; and four great-grandchildren, Ashton Babineaux and Hunter, Grant and Addison Fontenot.  
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Briscoe Fontenot.
The family requested visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, and continue from 8:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of the services.
 A recitation of the Rosary was held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday by Father Ugwu.
