Ronald C. “Ronnie” LeJeune
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Dec. 5, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota for Ronald C. “Ronnie” LeJeune, 57, who died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, at 7:34 a.m. at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice.
“Ronnie” was a native and lifelong resident of Iota and graduate of Iota High School in 1975. He served as a Cub Master starting in 1987 and at the time of his death was a Scout Master having served a total of 27 years. He promoted more than 24 Eagle Scouts. He was awarded numerous awards in Scouting including the Silver Beaver. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow, Catholic Committee on Scouting, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Iota-Egan Lions Club. He worked for Shell Exploration and Production as an operator in offshore production.
Fr. Jude Thierry, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. A rosary will be recited Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
“Ronnie” is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kathy Hebert LeJeune of Iota; one daughter, Heather L. Zaunbrecher and husband Michael of Iota; one son, Andrew LeJeune and partner Justin Vanlandingham of Houma; his father, Charles LeJeune of Iota; three sisters, Connie L. Sittig of Iota, Annette L. Bellon of Iota and Rhonda L. LeJeune of Iota; four grandchildren, Catherine, Alaina, Evalan, Owen Zaunbrecher, and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ione Milner LeJeune; his father-in-law, Curney Hebert; and brother-in-law, Steve Bellon.
Pallbearers will Andrew LeJeune, Jake Sittig, Scotty Fabacher, Steven Hoffpauir, Brent Miller, and Adam Smith who were his first 6 Eagle Scouts.
