Sebastian Sellers Freeman

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 18, at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Crowley for Sebastian Sellers Freeman, 96. She departed this life on Friday, July 11, 2014, surrounded by her children as God called her home to rest.

Fr. Godwin Imoru, pastor of St. Theresa Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be in South Crowley Cemetery.

She was born on Nov. 14, 1917, to the late Undiall Sellers and Elizabeth Cobb in Liberty, Texas. She was married to the late Leurin Freeman and to this beautiful union 10 children were born. Sebastian was a lifelong member of St. Theresa Catholic Church where she served as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Court 51, Ladies Altar Society and St. Joseph Society. She was a cafeteria worker for the St. Theresa Catholic School, and also was a domestic worker for many years. Sebastian loved her church and its work.

Mrs. Freeman leaves to cherish her wonderful memories: four daughters, Cecelia Freeman of Crowley, Margaret Freeman of Crowley, Elsie F. Bazile and her husband Vincent of Memphis, Tennessee, and Connie Freeman of Crowley; three sons, John Freeman and his wife Carolyn of Mansfield, Andrew Freeman Sr. and his wife Christine of Rayne and Mike Claude Freeman and his wife Elaine of Crowley; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; three godchildren, Gloria Linton, Elizabeth Miller and Betty Acres; one niece, Marjorie Joseph; two special friends, Eva Clement and Thelma Goody; special sisters, Gloria Linton and Jane Johnson; and other relatives and friends. 

Mrs. Freeman was preceded in death by her husband, Leurin Freeman; her parents, Undiall and Elizabeth Cobb Sellers; one daughter, Sebastian “Bass” Freeman; and two infant children.

Pallbearers will be Leon Freeman, Mark Freeman, Wilfred Jones Jr., Corey Bazile, Taurean Thibo, Andrew Freeman Jr., Nicholas Baker and John Gantt. Honorary pallbearers will be Emmett Jacob Jr., Keith Core, Brad Core, Byron Core, Andrew Freeman Sr., Mike Freeman, Napoleon Johnson, Leonard Pete Sr., Terry Foreman, John Freeman, Wilkins Freeman, Darrell Freeman Sr., Darrell Freeman Jr., Vincent J. Bazile, Alvin Chaffers and Vernon C. Joseph.
