Sidney P. McGee
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Sidney P. McGee announces his sudden passing at the age of 80.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Rite of Committal will follow in the Langley Cemetery with Father David Hebert celebrant.
A proud veteran, Sidney served in the United States National Guard. He was a great carpenter and his favorite past time was raising and tending to his cattle and riding his mule. But most of all, he loved and enjoyed being with his grandchildren and family. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his seven grandchildren, his three grandsons, Brian Duhon of Carencro; Cody McGee and girlfriend Chesley Hebert and Hunter McGee all of Basile; his four granddaughters, Mandy Duhon of Eunice, Stacey Bazinet and husband Brody of Elton, Kayle Linscomb and husband Christopher and Danielle McGee, all of Basile; five great-grandchildren; his longtime friend, Frances Ortego of Basile; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and many dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mayous and Elsie Fournerat McGee; his two sons, Terry and Robert McGee; his daughter, Vickie Duhon; and his brother, Egbert McGee. “While we are mourning the loss of a loved one, others are rejoicing to greet him.”
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Basile on Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and again on Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 8 a.m. until time of services.
