Wilma Bazile Julian

Rayne- Wilma Bazile Julian passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015, at the age of 87. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Shrine of Our Mother of Mercy in Rayne. Father Richard Wagner will officiate. Entombment will follow at the Shrine of Our Mother of Mercy Cemetery.

Wilma was born to Paul and Florence Bazile in Port Arthur, Texas on December 15, 1927. Wilma met and married her love, Shelton Julian in Rayne, where they raised their two children, Linda and Tyrone. Wilma loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She devoted her life to ensuring that they accomplished their dreams. Wilma was a self-taught seamstress, known throughout Acadiana for her bridesmaid dresses and Mardi Gras costumes. She was also an avid fan of sports and word puzzles. A consummate homemaker, Wilma was known for her holiday dishes and pecan candy. Many friends and family would visit Wilma to be asked, “What you know good?” This was always followed by words of encouragement.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Brumfield, of Rayne; her daughter-in-law, Evelyn Julian, of Crowley; three granddaughters, Gwendolyn Brumfield, of Church Point; Karen Julian King, and her husband Adrian, of Lafayette; and Shellie Julian Rayford, and her husband Chester of Dallas, TX; six great-grandchildren, Jamie Price, Peyton and John King, and Jonathan, Cameron, and Caitlyn Rayford; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Florence Bazile; her husband, Shelton Julian; her brothers, Edward and Vincent Bazile; her son, John “Tyrone” Julian and her great-granddaughter, Allyson Brumfield.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 7:30 a.m. until the time of service at Duhon Funeral Home in Rayne. A Rosary will be prayed at 8:00 a.m. by Fr. Wagner. Duhon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Her family would like to thank all of those who cared for her throughout her journey, especially the staff at Lafayette General Medical Center and Rayne Guest Home.
