One arrested after standoff

MIRE – 35 year old Andreas G. Svendsen of Ozark Lane, Mire was arrested without incident early Thursday morning following a four hour standoff.

According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon his office received a call around 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening from a female following a domestic incident with the suspect. Deputies learned that the victim ran out of the residence and into a nearby field to get away from the suspect. Upon arrival at the scene deputies learned that Svendsen was in the residence with a juvenile.

Sheriff Melancon stated that members of the ERT team were called out to assist and following a four hour stand off returned the juvenile to his mother unharmed.

Svendsen was transported to the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with domestic battery 2nd offense, false imprisonment and criminal damage to property. Bond was set at $62,500.
