School plan won't be unveiled Thursday
The federal government-Bi-Racial Committee plan for reorganization of St. Landry Parish schools will not be revealed at Thursday's School Board meeting.
Supt. Michael Nassif said Wednesday that due to an inadvertent omission in the proposed plan its unveiling will be delayed until an as-yet-unspecified time.
U.S. Dist. Judge Tucker Melancon on Monday gave the board 120 days to review and accept the plan, or come up with its own, and ordered it unwrapped at a public meeting of the board, not in an executive session.
"This plan will not be presented to the full board on Thursday during the regularly scheduled board meeting.
"The school system will receive a federal court order allowing for this presentation to be delayed upon further review," Nassif's statement said.
Nassif, under the court's directive, is not able to discuss the plan, or to respond to questions about what might have been left out.
