Lady Wolves shut out LaGrange for district win

RAYNE - During softball action Tuesday afternoon at Gossen Park, the Rayne High Lady Wolves turned in a 17-hit performance, resulting in a 15-0 win, improving their district slate to 5-2 at the mid-way point of the 2014 season.

Rayne hurler Kelcie Bourgeois added another win on the mound recording five strikeouts during the no-hitter.

During the short-lived, four-inning contest, the Lady Wolves recorded runs during each inning, including an explosive eight-run third inning to seal the win. The final four runs came in the fourth and final inning for the 15-0 shutout.

Leading at the plate for the Lady Wolves was Kristin Gaspard who went 3-for-3 with two triples, a double and two RBIs.

Also going 3-for-3 on the day was Bourgeois and Whitney Fontenot. Fontenot hammered two triples and and 3 RBIs.

Also making contact at the plate for Rayne were Katelyn LeDoux (1 hit, 3 RBIs), Katie Benoit (2 hits, 2 RBIs), Cecily Schexnyder (2 hits, 2 RBIs), Blaire Bergeron (1 hit, 1 RBI), and a hit each by Gabrielle Peltier and McKenzie Meche.

With an open date Thursday, the Lady Wolves will travel to Lake Charles with a make-up distric game at Washington-Marion Monday afternoon before traveling to Euncie on Tuesday for their second district contest in as many days.
