Lady Wolves volleyball action

The Lady Wolves (28-5, 8-1) participated in the Lutcher Tournament over the weekend where they fell in the semis to St. Scholastica in a two-game match.
Despite the loss, net play went well for the Lady Wolves as Charlesha Dugas and Tarya Kanonu tallied 27 kills each in tournament play. Katie Benoit and Layni Boudreaux each recorded 13 kills, while Tristan Mouton had 10 and Blair Bergeron with nine.
Leading in assists were Tristan Mouton (50), Layni Boudreaux (31) and Ashley Thibodeaux (5).
On defense, Whitney Fontenot recorded 33 digs, followed by Katie Benoit (18) and Charlesha Dugas (11).
During the tournament, the Lady Wolves scored wins over Ascension Christian, Denham Springs and South Terrebone, before falling to St. Scholastica.
In recent contests, the Lady Wolves scored wins over North Vermilion, Crowley High and Northside to bring their over tally to 28-5 and 8-1 in district.
Rayne High was scheduled to meet Iota High and Church Point in distrct play this week, before returning home next week when they will host Sam Houston (Oct. 20), Northwest (Oct. 21), and try to avenge their only district loss to Teurlings on Oct. 23rd which will also be observed as “Senior Night” when senior team members will be honored during their last home game.
