CHS' Broussard throws three-hitter at Rayne

CROWLEY – Crowley High’s Pate Broussard scattered three hits and walked just one in seven innings to shut out the Rayne Wolves, 6-0, Sunday in a pivotal District 4-4A contest at Miller Stadium.
The victory sends the Gents to 21-3 on the season and 10-0 in league play.
With Broussard in control on the mound, the Gents’ offense provided more than enough run support in the second inning.
Brett Hebert plated two runs with a two-out single to right field before Will Doughty and Broussard drove home runs with singles to give the hosts a 4-0 advantage.
Haden Erbe and Bubba Daigle each recorded an RBI single in the fifth inning.
Erbe had two hits on the day, including a double, while Hebert, Broussard, Daigle, Doughty, Andre Larry and Jon Riley Mouton each had one.
Grant Abshire, Hunter Keely and Blase Meche each singled for the Wolves.
Keely suffered the loss after allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks. He struck out five in six innings.
The Gents return to action Tuesday when they travel to Eunice for a 6 p.m. contest against the Bobcats.
