Lady Dogs blank Northwest in league opener
IOTA – The Iota Lady Bulldogs gave up just 15 total points and cruised to a 3-0 victory over Northwest Thursday evening in the district opener for both teams.
The Lady Dogs (8-1) took the first two sets in impressive fashion, 25-2 and 25-4, before closing out the match with a 25-9 victory.
Madelyn Gatte led the charge for the Lady Dogs at the net with 10 kills. Cambri St. Andre added five kills; Mallory Faul and Taylor Deville each had four; Whitney Landry and Erika Manuel each had three and Jillian Boone finished with one.
Faul also had 22 assists, two digs and seven aces and Boone had seven digs and three aces.
STM tops Lady Pios
LAFAYETTE – The defending Division II state champion St. Thomas More Lady Cougars proved to be too much for the Notre Dame Lady Pios Thursday evening.
The Lady Cougars took a 3-1 victory over the Lady Pios and handed them their second loss of the week, dropping them to 2-3 on the season.
On Tuesday, the Lady Pios suffered a 3-1 setback at the hands of reining Division III state champion Teurlings at A.B. Dore gym.
Grace Morgan led the Lady Pios in the loss at STM with 14 kills and four blocks. She also had one assist and a pair of digs.
Olivia Barbin followed with seven kills and 16 digs while Anne Faulk logged three kills. Paityn Desselle added two kills, one block, one ace and six digs and Madelyn Cassedy had one kill.
Also contributing were Hunter Leblanc and Natalie Miller with 12 and seven assists respectively while Morgan Oliver had nine digs.
CHS Ladies slip past Carencro
CROWLEY – The Crowley Ladies picked up their second victory of the season earlier in the week with a five-set victory over Carencro.
The Ladies (2-7) won the first two games before Carencro rallied to tie it at 2-2. Crowley regrouped and took the final set, 15-10.
Myah Rogers paced the Ladies with 11 kills and 11 blocks. She also had two aces.
Chadelyn Yokum followed with nine kills, three blocks and two aces; Bailee Villejoin had three kills, six blocks, four aces and eight digs and Jennifer Martinez had three kills and eight blocks.
Also contributing in the victory were Cierra Brooks with five assists and nine digs and Melania Doughty with two aces and nine digs.
