Lady Pios top Delcambre and ESA
CROWLEY – The Notre Dame Lady Pios picked up a pair of volleyball victories last week to even out their overall record at 10-10 on the season.
The Lady Pios opened the week with a 3-0 victory over Delcambre in the district opener for both teams.
In that contest, the Lady Pios got 17 kills, three blocks, four digs and five aces from Grace Morgan. Madelyn Cassedy and Olivia Barbin followed with four and three kills, respectively, while Marcella Gossen logged two and Lauren Cramer had one. Cramer also had one block and six assists. Barbin had eight digs.
Sammi Leger was the assist leader with 10 while Melise Gossen had 10 aces and one dig. Mackenzie Habetz logged four aces and 10 digs and Josie Lamm had one ace, five assists and two digs.
Later in the week, the Lady Pios traveled to Cade to take on perennial power ESA in their annual Pink Game for breast cancer awareness. They won that game, 3-0, as well.
Morgan dominated at the net once again with 10 kills while Barbin had six. She also recorded a team-high 15 digs to go along with one ace.
Also notching kills were Cassedy with four and Anne Faulk, Marcella Gossen, Melise Gossen and Matalie Mournier each with one.
Melise Gossen also had three aces, one assist and 10 digs.
Lamm added three aces, 14 assists and two digs; Natalie Miller had two assists and two digs; Habetz had one ace and four digs and Hunter Leblanc had three assists and one dig.
Other Action
Northside Christian’s Lady Warriors (9-7) also defeated ESA, 3-0, durng the week.
Kathryn Zaunbrecher had eight kills, three aces and two blocks in the victory while Zoie Hanagriff had seven kills, 19 digs and four aces.
Madisyn Clement added six kills, nine digs and 11 assists; Sydni Guidry had four kills, 22 digs and seven assists; Leah Monte had three kills, 13 digs and one ace; Victoria Monte had two kills and one block; Meghan Vincent had one kill and 16 digs and Chloe Dietz had one dig and one assist.
