Lady Rebels, Lady Warriors log playoff victories
MIDLAND – The Midland Lady Rebels jumped out to an early lead and never looked back Thursday in a 61-26 victory over Choudrant in the opening round of the Class B playoffs.
The No. 11-seeded Lady Rebels (21-14) went on a 16-2 run in the first quarter and took a 36-11 cushion into the break. They then outscored the Lady Aggies 25-15 in the second half.
Macy Hoffpauir and Kristen Breaux led the offensive charge with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Tori Craigen followed with nine points; Brooke Comeaux added eight; Bethany LeJeune pitched in six; Katie Woods scored five, Nicole Kraut had four and Hannah Credeur finished with three.
The Lady Rebels will now travel to Castor to take on the No. 6 seeded Lady Tigers on Monday.
Lady Warriors rally past Gibsland-Coleman
CROWLEY – The Northside Christian Lady Warriors used a 27-point outburst in the fourth quarter to slip past Gibsland-Coleman, 64-55, Thursday in the first round of the Class C playoffs.
The Lady Warriors (10-17) led 32-25 at the half but Gibsland Coleman rallied in the third to take a 39-37 advantage.
Madeline Gatte poured in 13 of her game-high 23 points during the fourth quarter.
Brooke Stanford added 11 points in the victory and Madi Clement had 10. Zoie Hanagriff added eight points while Kathryn Zaunbrecher and Zera Hanagriff each had six.
The Lady Warriors hit the road Monday to take on District 6-C foe and No. 1 seed Hackberry.
