Prep Roundup: Lady Pios rally past Patterson

NEW IBERIA – Hanna Esthay and Annie Matthews combined for 17 points in the fourth quarter, helping the Notre Dame Lady Pios rally past Patterson, 46-40, Tuesday in the Catholic High of New Iberia Tournament.
Patterson led 17-15 at the half before increasing the lead to 30-21 entering the fourth quarter.
The Lady Pios, who reached Wednesday’s finals with the victory, responded with a 25-point effort in the final eight minutes to slip away with the victory.
Esthay poured in nine of her game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter while Matthews scored all eight of her points in the final frame. Alyssa Williams also scored eight points in the victory.
Melise had five points during the fourth quarter run and finished the night with seven points. Abbey Higginbotham added three points and Hunter LeBlanc had one.
CHS Ladies fall
to Port Barre

BREAUX BRIDGE – The Crowley Ladies’ bowed out of the Breaux Bridge Tournament on Tuesday with a 44-33 loss to Port Barre.
The Ladies struggled to get anything going in the first half and fell behind 19-8 at the break after scoring just four points in each quarter.
The Ladies rallied in the third quarter behind six points each from Hannah Hart and Myah Rogers to cut the lead to 30-22.
The Lady Red Devils outscored the Ladies 14-11 in the fourth quarter, however.
Hart paced the Ladies with 11 points and Nykelia Winters followed with seven. Rogers pitched in six points, Breana Larry added five and Taylor Dapremont finished with four.
Lafayette edges Lady Dogs in tourney action
LEROY – A sluggish first half was too much for the Iota Lady Bulldogs to overcome Tuesday evening.
Lafayette High jumped out to a 27-16 lead at the half and fended off a late Iota rally to hold on for a 38-34 victory in the semifinals of the North Vermilion Tournament.
The Lady Dogs cut the lead to 31-27 after the third quarter, but each team managed just seven points in the final frame.
Mallory Faul paced the Lady Dogs with 20 points and Whitney Landry had six. Cambri St. Andre pitched in five points, Becca Fantroy scored two and Madeline Gatte had one.
Bulldogs knock off
Sacred Heart

VILLE PLATTE – The Iota Bulldogs held off a late charge by Sacred Heart Tuesday morning and walked away with a 45-41 victory in the Trojans’ own tournament.
Triston Fontenot and Dylan Hebert led the Dogs with 15 and 12 points, respectively, while Chase Doucet pitched in seven points and Landon LeJeune had six.
Also contributing in the victory were Bray Latiolais with three points and Brett Clay with two.
