A number of Rayne all-star teams participated in sectional and regional tournaments as post-season action continues.
The Rayne Girls Pinto League Gators, the lone girls’ team still in action, were named 2014 South Zone Coastal Region Pinto 8U Regional Champions.
During the three-day tournament held in Youngsville, the Gators defeated SLYAA (Opelousas), Kaplan, Kinder, Gonzales, Eunice and Ville Platte for the regional crown.
The Gators will now prepare for their Zone National Tournament slated the last week in July in Youngsville.
In boys’ all-star action, both Pinto teams traveled to their sectional tournament held in Eunice over the weekend. The Bombers were 2-2 on the weekend and finished with a fourth place ranking. The Frog Sox were awarded the runner-up banner Monday evening when they met the Eunice All-Stars. The Frog Sox will represent the City of Rayne this weekend during their Super Regionals slated in Youngsville.
Both mustang league all-star teams qualified for their super regional with big wins over the weekend in Jennings. The sectional tournament saw an all-Rayne finale Monday evening when the Shockers and Outlaws met in the championship game, an oddity in all-star play. The Outlaws claimed a first place win over the Shockers with both teams slated for Erath this weekend during their Super Regional Tournament.
The Bronco Rivals All-Stars also traveled to Eunice for their sectional tournament over the weekend. In Monday’s finale, the Rivals were awarded the runner-up banner as they fell just short to the host team. With a top-two finish, the Rivals will now travel to Youngsville this weekend for their Super Regional Tournament.
