Rayne Rec All-Star Gators bring home national championship

The Rayne Girls Pinto League All-Stars, known as the Gators, brought home the 2014 South Zone Softball Pinto 8-Under Slow Pitch World Series Championships. The four-day tournament was held in Youngsville.

The Gators entered bracket play with a 2-1 pool play tally with wins over Dayton, Texas and  Aledo, Texas before falling to North Vermilion.

In bracket play, the Gators took additional wins over the two Texas teams before falling to Ville Platte. With a win over Moss Bluff, the Gators answered with two wins over Ville Platte in the finals for the win and championship banner.

Team members include Abigail Richard, Emily Marks, Bailee Royer, Analie Dupuis, Ella Guidry, Graci Alleman, Madison Boudreaux, Kallie Venable, Addison Richard, Ani Comeaux, Annabeth Savoy, Gracie Duhon, Addyson Gautreaux, along with coaches Keith Richard, Shannon Royer, Derek Richard and Randy Guidry.

During the presentations, Rayne’s Bailee Royer was named Tournament MVP. Her jersey will be sent to the Pony office headquarters in Philadelphia where it will be on display for a year in her honor.

The Gators qualified for the World Series Championships by capturing top honors during their Regional Tournament held last month in Youngsville.
