State runnerup Lady Warriors land three on All-District first-team

CROWLEY – The Northside Christian Lady Warriors battled through a difficult district slate, turned it up in the playoffs and marched all the way to the Class C state finals where they were defeated by league foe Hackberry.
For their efforts, the Lady Warriors landed three players on the 6-C All-District team that was recently released by the league’s coaches.
Sophomores Zoie Hanagriff and Leah Monte along with senior Katelyn Jones each grabbed spots on the first-team that was dominated by players from Hackberry and Starks.
Hanagriff made the team at first base after hitting .390 on the season with six doubles, two triples, one home run and 14 RBI. Monte hit for a .337 clip with five doubles, one home run and 12 RBI and Jones posted a .381 average with six doubles, five home runs and 26 RBI.
Hackberry pitcher Jolie Trahan was named the league’s most valuable player after posting an earned run average of .412 and hitting .667. She was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in the title game while also tossing a four-hit shutout at the Lady Warriors.
Hackberry’s Angie Little earned the league’s Coach of the Year honors after leading her team to 23-2 record and the school’s fourth straight state title.
Hackberry’s Brianne Beard and Starks’ Wendy Gillet also made the team at pitcher.
Other position players making the first-team from Hackberry include Mattie Stine, Sydney Broussard, Destiny Simon, Gracie Devall and Abby Trahan.
Starks, the district runnersup and eventual third-place finisher in state, landed three position players on the first unit in Ashlynn Gibson, Jade Berry and Lexie Hudson. Singer’s Morgan Knapp rounds out the team.
The Lady Warriors grabbed six spots on the second team in Brooke Stanford, Madisyn Clement, Mallary Vincent, Meghan Jones, Sydni Guidry and Zera Hanagriff.
