Weather causes postponement of girls playoff games

IOTA – The Iota Lady Bulldogs’ Class 3A regional playoff contest originally scheduled for Monday will now be played on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in Ville Platte.
Inclement weather forced the Evangeline Parish School Board to close its schools on Monday and Tuesday, causing the postponement of the game.
Ville Platte, the No. 2 seed, defeated Abbeville 66-61 last Thursday to advance to the regional round. Iota, the No. 15 seed, topped Caldwell Parish, 51-44, in the bi-district round.
Presale tickets for Wednesday’s matchup are $8 each and can be purchased at the Iota High School main office on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon.
The Midland Lady Rebels’ Class B regional tilt at Anacoco has also been pushed back and will be played this evening at 6:30 p.m, weather permitting.
Anacoco, the No. 7 seed, defeated Grace Christian 54-18 in the opening round while Midland, the No. 10 seed, beat Dodson, 47-30.
Six of the eight Class B regional playoff games originally scheduled for Monday will be played tonight.
Last night’s games included Holden at Bell City and Hathaway at Lacassine.
