As announced by RCE Principal Fred Menard during 2014-2015 Catholic Schools Week, Thomas Ronkartz was named 8th Grade Student of the Year. Thomas is the son of Brian and Trudy Ronkartz of Roberts Cove.

As announced by RCE Principal Fred Menard during 2014-2015 Catholic Schools Week, Ella Cantrell was named 5th Grade Student of the Year. Ella is the daughter of Charlie and Ali Cantrell of Rayne.

Rayne Catholic Elementary observes Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week, which in 2015 is January 25 - 31.
As announced by Rayne Catholic Elementary, the theme for this year’s observance was “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.”
Schools typically observe the annual celebration week with Masses, open houses and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members. Through these events, schools focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our church, our communities and our nation.
Rayne Catholic’s week-long schedule of events included:
Monday, Jan. 26 - “Celebrate Our Nation” with a morning performance by Harvey Rabbit for PreK - 4th graders; Joe’s Café for 5th and 6th graders; Sonic Run for 7th and 8th graders.
Tuesday, Jan. 27 - “Celebrate Our Community” with the Supporter of the Year announced (Dale and Dianne Trahan); Community-Wide Blood Drive; and Game Day.
Wednesday, Jan. 28 - “Celebrate Our Vocations” with a Godparent Mass celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church while appreciating our priests and religious.
Thursday, Jan. 29 - “Celebrate Our Students” by announcing the Students of the Year (5th grader Ella Cantrell and 8th grader Thomas Ronkartz); enjoy a pancake breakfast; and an Faith Rally.
Friday, Dec. 30 - “Celebrate Our Teachers” by announcing the Teacher of the Year (Dana Nugent); a noon faculty luncheon; Annual Locks of Love hair donations for cancer patients; and a school-wide Block Party.
