Gregory Spencer, Sr.

Gregory Spencer, Sr., was born on October 16, 1955 to the late Joseph and Gustavia Spencer of Iota. He was the second child of eleven children.

After a long battle with kidney failure and heart problems, God wrapped his arms around our beloved Greg and took him home early Sunday morning June 27, 2010.

He enjoyed fishing, riding, in his many different vehicles, and spending time with his children.

He is survived by his son, Gregory, Jr.; two daugthers, LaShona and Gregetta Spencer who will always cherish his memories. He is also survived by one sister, Andre Spencer of Iota who devoted her life to caring for him; four brothers, Steve of Eunice; Vincent of Lake Charles; Lynn and Harold of Iota; four aunts, Dorothy, Florine, Carrie Jean, and Anna Marie; three uncles, Clyde, Earl, and Ray; two special nieces, Pam Spencer Hayes (who was more of a sister than a niece); and Kabrina Evans; a special nephew James Hopkins; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents; five brothers, Buddy, Ray, Frank, Quinton, and Calvin; and one daughter, Shontel Spencer Percival.

Services will be held at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church of Iota. The wake will be held on Friday, July 2, 2010 at 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday July 3, 2010 at 10 a.m.
