Mable Allen celebrates 98 years

Mable Allen of Crowley turned 98 years old at the beginning of the month, and family and friends, some of whom had traveled a great distance, celebrated the momentous occasion with a birthday party on the afternoon of Saturday, Oct. 5.

Allen was born in Crowley on Dec. 9, 1915, and has been a lifelong resident of the community.

She married Blaze Allen, and their union was blessed with 10 children: Versey (now deceased), Glen, Leslie, Carol, Lucille, Deda, Blaze Jr., Alzena, Kermit and Nathan.

Allen has faithfully dedicated her life to the service of God and her fellow man, and she has been a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church for over 54 years.
