Proctor recognized

Acadiana LifeStyle honors female leaders

Crowley Alderwoman Dr. Ezora Proctor was one of eight people honored by the publication “Acadiana LifeStyle” as being a “Woman Making a Difference.”
The publication stated that those who were honored were a “potpourri of humanitarians, philanthropists, movers and shakers.”
In the article, Proctor, who most Crowley residents would agree fits the aforementioned description, describes growing up in Eunice and the importance that her parents placed on hard work and education.
“When I was younger the preacher and the teacher were gospel to everyone,” she says.
Proctor’s 30 year career as a teacher at Armstrong High School is also discussed and the article details the importance that education plays in her life. And the former teacher describes herself as still being somewhat of a student.
“I’ve yet to get to the point where I can’t learn,” she says. “I learn from everybody – babies, children, senior citizens. When you stop learning, your life ends.”
When contacted concerning the award on Tuesday, Proctor was quite humble.
“I was surprised but very appreciative that someone would recognize me for the things I do,” she said. “My mother and father taught me from an early age to give back to the community and I’ve tried to do that my entire life. It’s very rewarding.”
